MetaTrader 5, usually shortened to MT5, is the trading platform built by MetaQuotes and used by traders and brokers worldwide. It handles your charting, order placement, position management and account history in one place, and supports automated tools written in its own programming language. It is the platform your CTI account trades on.
Not necessarily. MetaTrader 5 comes as a desktop application, a web terminal that runs in any browser, and mobile apps for iPhone and Android. The desktop version has the most features, including support for Expert Advisors, while the web terminal lets you log in from a machine where you cannot install software.
The desktop platform runs on Windows, and MetaQuotes also publishes versions for macOS and Linux. The web terminal works in any modern browser regardless of operating system, and there are native apps for iOS and Android. You can log into the same account from more than one device.
MT5 accounts are available to traders in most countries, but we cannot offer them to clients in the USA. If you are based in the USA you can still trade with us on Match-Trader, which is available worldwide. A small number of other jurisdictions are restricted and those are listed in our terms, so contact support if you are not certain whether your country is covered.
The CTI MT5 Trade Manager is free to download and runs as an Expert Advisor inside the desktop platform. Because trading rules differ between programmes, check the rules that apply to your account or ask support before running any automated tool on a skill assessment account.
The full instrument list, along with contract sizes, spreads and trading hours, is published on our symbols page. Because specifications change from time to time, always take the current figures from the symbol specification inside your own terminal before you size a position.
Your platform login details are issued when your account is created and are available in your CTI dashboard. If you cannot locate them, or a login is not working, contact support and the team will sort it out.
These programmes run on MetaTrader 5 rather than MetaTrader 4. MT5 is the newer platform from the same developer, with more timeframes, more order types and a faster strategy tester. We also offer Match-Trader, a web based platform available worldwide including the USA, if you would rather trade from a browser.
Yes. The free trial gives you a live platform environment to trade in without a card, so you can get comfortable with the platform and the rules before committing to a challenge.
Your programme rules are the same whichever way you access the platform. What can catch traders out is swap on positions held overnight, since it moves your balance separately from your trade result. Our free swap calculator works out that cost before you commit to a long hold.
